Bio
Wendy is a Montreal-based artist creating vibrant, colorful, attention-grabbing nature and conservation inspired canvases.
Wendy was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and began to paint at the age of two, alongside her artist-mother, Maggie.
Wendy studied Fine Arts at John Abbott College in Montreal; Art Education at Concordia University in Montreal; and graduated in Printmaking from The Emily Carr College of Art & Design, Vancouver, B.C. She has exhibited in many group and solo shows throughout Canada.
Wendy is passionate about the Earth and environment and has an extreme love and compassion for all creatures, great and small. In particular, Wendy enjoys a relationship with the ocean, both above and below, as a competitive Stand-up-paddle boarder and lover of all aquatic citizens. Wendy applies this passion not only to the way she moves through life but also to her colorful works – intended to open the eyes of her audience and to make them more sensitive and conscious towards endangered species, the climate crisis, and plastic pollution.
With the use of acrylic paints, colored pencils, pastels, paper, collage and words, Wendy creates her canvases with vibrant colors and texture, and blends her stories and messages together with a playful and whimsical touch.
In 2007, Wendy partnered with her friend Sharon Auclair and together they created “Dung Beetle Design”, a small company promoting Eco-Conscious products. Using Wendy’s artwork as the focal-point and Sharon's super-sewer, web-designer and office-manager skills, together they design and create their popular functional art creations that can be found at: www.dunbeetledesign.com.
When not expressing her passions through art, Wendy is an enthusiastic SUP athlete and teacher/coach; a level-2 Certified Natural Fitness Trainer; a Certified Ashtanga Teacher, wife and mother of 2 young-adult boys.
